Reflection

The Penn State AE Senior Thesis Project incorporated many facets of illustrational work which analyzed in-depth the major components of the 160 E. 22nd Street Project. The beginning of the year focused on three technical reports which aimed to increase my understanding of the project through research and compilation of information as well as determining the major benefits and flaws of the building. A second semester proposal was then created that proposed new ideas for the building in attempt to gain benefit whether from a construction management standpoint or marketing standpoint for Toll Brothers as a developer. Four analyses were created in the spring 2014 Semester that aimed to follow through on these ideas. A final report and presentation were the result of the Spring Semester studies. The thesis project allowed me to individually use skills obtained from the Architectural Engineering degree and apply them to engineer solutions for the project. The Senior Thesis taught me to effectively evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a project, and use skills, such as time management, and networking with other students and construction professionals to make the building better overall.

CPEP Reflection

The use of the Capstone E-Portfolio was a creative and effective way for me to post and share the work I completed throughout the year with industry members, faculty and other students. The first website created for the Portfolio made it very hard for me to post documents effectively, so a Wix website was created in its place. The customization of the Wix webpage allowed me to effectively post important documents and information regarding to the Senior Thesis Project. This CPEP Portfolio will be useful for future students as they complete their own thesis projects.
